“I took this photo on the red carpet at the Oscars. So you’ve got Sam Rockwell and his wife, Leslie Bibb on the one side of the frame. And then Melissa McCarthy, who’s sort of, I suppose, half the picture and, you know, I’d shot them all before. Shot Sam and Leslie many times and Melissa, a couple of times, and I just loved the mischief of the shot. And you don’t feel like you’re looking at three movie stars. You feel like you’re looking at three mates. Who are all sort of having fun. You know, they’re having fun. They look like they’re all up for mischief and they all look excited. Sam and Leslie just look like sort of giggling friends. And then Melissa just dropping her eyes off in the angle. I love it. Cause it doesn’t feel in any way formal, it’s not the kind of picture you expect to see on a red carpet. A friend of mine once said to me, you know, there’s no harm with sort of saying, you know, take the piss a little and encouraging people to do that. And this was, you know, probably 15-20 years into my career and I’d never really done that. And I suppose now I encourage people all the time just to take the piss a little and that’s what they’re doing here.”
