About this picture
“I took this photo of Tom Hardy at home. I’ve got a pond at home that we swim in. It’s basically just fun, humorous thing. It’s a life boy from one of my favorite hotels. I suppose the picture slightly takes the Mickey out of the sort of, you know, Tom’s such a sort of masculine, cool actor and so I suppose having slightly play up to it, you know, he looks like he’s just sort of escaped from some sort of submarine or something underwater and he’s come up dressed in his suit. And it’s just a humorous picture that makes me smile every time I look at it. Technically, it was taken on the light cue. I believe it might be a crop actually. I think I may have shot that wide and just cropped in which I do quite a lot. I tend to think quite cinematically. So even quite a lot of my magazine covers are crops from wide pictures. If you want to take something from this picture for your own photography, I would say it’d be very easy to fall into stereotype of what you expect someone to do. And I would say, you know, just don’t fall into it, have fun with people and interact with them when they’re having fun. You know, this is a joke between two friends and I have the camera, right? But it’s really about keeping things fresh. And, I suppose allowing humor to permeate shoots that weren’t necessarily set up to be that.”
